Bridge Bond Question Stirs Marion City
City solicitor C T Hays analyzes the legality of an April 14 vote to authorize bonds for a county bridge. He finds city debt at about $27,000, under five percent of assessed value, but above one and a quarter percent, excluding water and sewer bonds which may rise to five percent. The piece concludes water and sewer bonds may be approved, while bridge bonds are not, leaving any bridge aid to subscription or mixed funding. Women may vote in the election.
