S C Experts Predict Demand For Farm Products In 1953
Iowa State College extension specialists Herb Howell and Bill Zmoleck told Hardin county livestock farmers at Eldora that continued high incomes, steady prices, and expanding defense spending support strong demand for farm products in 1953. They noted larger town feed grain supplies, possible below loan rates for corn this fall, and prices near or above loan levels by spring. Hog margins should be average, with spring farrowings up slightly, while the fat cattle market remains weak in the near term. Cattle feeding may ease price pressure as more feeder cattle and beef cows increase, including imports from Mexico.
