Eldora volunteers urge residents to bundle warm garments for overseas relief. Trucks will tour Saturday to collect coats shoes diapers blankets and basic sewing items left on front steps. Donating costs nothing and helps neighbors far away facing winter and hardship due to war.
Town round up reports a busy Kiddies Day with children riding games priced at five cents and adults stacking tickets. We note a two liver and three heart report, a haircut mishap, a kindergarten day uproar, and local business and sports chatter including a 19 inch smallmouth catch and a two day Eldora event with local families and enthusiasts.
A narrator recalls Kathy and Tippy Tiptoe spending the summer with them. Tippy evolves from a casual guest to a beloved presence, demanding meals and companionship, while causing chaos with rabbits, mice, and a dog. A busy Steamboat Rock social scene unfolds with numerous visits from relatives and friends. Among those stopping by are Eckels from Mitchellville, Bremer party from Freeport, Seitsema reunion attendees from Storm Lake, Langs from Cedar Falls, Moon visitors from Tulsa, and Kasparek family from Cedar Rapids, among others. Several locals host gatherings at Harms, Luiken, Parks, and Folkerts households with extended families and church activities noted.
Minnie Walters named administratrix of the estate of H. A. Walter deceased in Hardin County Iowa. Creditors urged to pay debts and present claims duly authenticated to the administratrix or clerk of the district court, Cameron & Dickinson attorneys.
Sandra Williams and Beverly Luiken rode the train to Union Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs Hollis Havens and family of Great Lakes spent the weekend at the Ray Karstens home and visited relatives including Raymond Seitsema and daughter Joan of Sacred Heart Minnesota Mrs M Bakker of Renville Minnesota and Mr and Mrs Harry Seitsema of Ackley were Friday visitors in the Mrs H P Kramer home.
