Clarence Whitehead Named ASC Chairman

J Clarence Whitehead of Providence Township was elected chairman of the Hardin County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation ASC committee at the annual convention of township delegates in Town Falls Monday. Dewey Eller of Sherman township was elected vice chairman and Ray Lake of Hardin township named third member. Verne Fuller of Jackson township and Robert Clark of Concord township were chosen first and second alternate members. Terms begin September 1 and run one year. All committeemen are experienced farmers. duties center on ASC policy making and day to day operations rest with the county ASC office manager.

Methodist Closes Summer Schedule and Adds Furnishings

Beginning Sunday September 5 the Methodist church here returns to regular Sunday School and worship hours set at 9 30 a m and 10 00 a m Parents are urged to bring children to church school by 10 a m and an invitation is extended to all parents of Methodist preference children to attend the adult church school Renovations continue in several school rooms and the education al hallway with twenty four new chairs and three new tables added to the church school equipment.

The Eldora city council will hold a regular meeting on September 13. It will meet before next Monday night due to Labor Day, and officials expect discussion of proposed natural gas rate changes at the September session.

Swimming Pool At Country Club Is Now Open

The new swimming pool at Fine Lake Country Club opened Wednesday with Miss Donna Luglan of Elders as lifeguard. It will stay open through Sept 12 or longer if conditions warrant. bathhouse is usable for dressing though not completed. Fixtures will be installed next spring.

Eldora district approves $410000 school bond issue

About 70 percent of eligible voters in the Eldora district cast ballots Monday to approve a $410,000 school bond. Final results showed 1,824 yes to 178 no, an 88 percent majority, with 1,502 votes cast by turnout, a record for a school election. Funds will build a new elementary school with kindergarten through sixth grade plus recreation space and kitchen facilities on a site east of the current school.
