A Chest committee voted to extend the Community Chest plan for another year noting funds may reach about 4500, with 4241 on hand and more donations expected. The drive aimed for 6500, clean-up sales yielded around 145 from four wards and 50 from Pine Lake residents, plus 78 from school children. Distributions to agencies will be decided in early 1951 after all money is in and shares are adjusted to the total raised.

Mrs Will Dreier of Hubbard j was elected chairman of the Hardin County Public Health Council to fill the remainder of the year after Dr Paul Tempel left for service. About 35 representatives and interested persons attended the meeting where Dr C L Putnam of the state health department discussed proposed legislation for county and multi county health departments. Ava Johnson of the state department spoke on health education and an open forum discussed local health problems.

Two Road Men Hurt In County Truck Upset
Chris Reed 64 of Iowa Falls and John Blossi 54 of Ackley were injured when a county truck overturned on a southeast Cleves road Saturday afternoon. Reed had a chipped collar bone and was hospitalized in Iowa Falls. Blossi had five broken ribs, a chest injury, a burned lip, and back burns from gasoline, and was taken to Hampton hospital. The cause is unknown. A second county truck ahead, carrying William Hubrecht and Herb Axtell, saw the wreck and released Blossi. The 1940 truck, valued about 500, likely to be junked after damage estimated at 400.

Sheriff Recovers Missing Car In Weekend Theft
Dean Reece of Nee Providence reported his 1949 Mercury missing after a Tuesday call from the sheriff. The car was found at Titonka after disappearing Monday night from a training school area. Clarence Meser, 16, of Titonka, was apprehended Tuesday and will be charged with theft. a trucker saw the youth with the auto.

Bitters Found Guilty of OMVI by Iowa Falls Jury
A district court jury in Iowa Falls convicted Howard A Bitters age 36 of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after a three day trial. The verdict was delivered at 9 40 p m following deliberations of about five hours. Bitters was arrested March 18 on highway 57 near its junction with highway 65 west of Eldora. Judge H Fry scheduled sentencing for the following Wednesday.
