Friday October events include Rebekah Lodge No 144 and W C T U gatherings in Kensington. Saturday lists Eldora Assembly for Girls and Tempie Plessant Club, with other city club activities. Monday shows Pissooa Fh ase i Pisces scheduling.
Eldaca Women’s Club outlines Bicentennial observances for 1877 season with a luncheon at Ethel's Tea Room. Bermuth Huehn performances noted. Future details to be announced. event to be held at Second National Bank auditorium with multiple church circles and cemetery society participation.
September activities at the day care center include birthday celebrations with hats and treats, goals for trips to the city and swimming, and visitors bringing puppies and donations from local contributors. Fire drills comply with licensing, and attendance averaged forty eight children.
Harold Elerding of Eldora and his wife were honored at a 4 Surprise anniversary dinner Oct 4 at TeCaToMa Supper Club Buckeye. The couple’s 35th anniversary falls Oct 5. Guests included John Pluckhahn family Glidden David Elerding family Hubbard Everett Elerding Jane New Providence Howard Harris Frey Eldora Arnold Krueger LuAnn Darlene Hubbard and others. A decorated cake was served.
The annual RAVE contest sponsored by Hardin County Farm Bureau Women will be at 8 p.m. Saturday Oct 11 in the Eldora High School vocal music room. The program is open to the public and attendees should enter by the north door and cross the bridge to the music room.
Mrs. Floyd Pratt will discuss her button collection and display some of it for the South Hardin North Marshall Senior Citizens on Oct. 15. A noon potluck dinner will be served at the South Hardin Recreation Center at Union before the program.
Mrs Hazel Garrett hosted the Urban Club on October 3 at her daughter's home with co host Mrs Lee DeWitt. Twelve members answered roll call with my favorite author. Members heard mini book reviews by Mrs Lawrence Rudolph on Harry Truman and Mrs Lewis Crosser on Alice Roosevelt Longworth. Mrs Guy Norris will host the November 7 meeting at noon with a salad luncheon.
Dr Marie Malmin Meyer retired English professor formerly on the St Olaf College faculty Northfield Minn was guest speaker at the Lutheran Ladies Aid Oct 2 at the church Hildegarde Stielow president opened the meeting Devotions by Mrs Jack Crosser used the Middle East as theme Mrs Gary Truwe reported on a District Project of the Christian Growth Committee providing a chapel for Home for the Aged at Winton Eldora church to host the Ambassadors for Christ Oct 17-19 meals planned Friday and Saturday with Mrs Robert Balvant Mrs Ed Ziesman and Mrs Stanley Granner in charge Marys Mission Circle devotions at Valley View Nursing Center in October 48 members and 12 visitors present Food and monetary donations for Lutheran Family Services were the October project Refreshments served by several ladies Thursday Bridge in Calfee Home
Miss Helen Gethman led a fine arts program at the first fall meeting of Chapter FA PEO with music and poetry. She was assisted by Mrs. Keith Van Potter Mrs. Gary Karr and Mrs. Vern Greimann. Hostesses for the 1 pm salad luncheon at Mrs. John B Wood’s home included Mrs. Greimann Mrs. Jack Hall and Mrs. Lewis Crosser. Mrs. Paul Primus will host the 8 pm meeting on Oct 21.
Elvin Harms will hold a meeting on November 6 at 1 30 p m. The notice provides the time but lacks location or agenda details, leaving attendees to await further instructions.
National School Lunch Week notes a schedule from Oct 12 to 18. Oct 13 hot dogs and sides, Oct 14 lasagne and salad, Oct 15 cheese burgers and sides, Oct 16 fish squares and jello, Oct 17 no school in service day for teachers.
A homey apple cake baked in a tube pan serves about twelve. The recipe uses eggs orange juice vanilla oil sugar flour salt baking powder and apples with a cinnamon sugar swirl. Bake at 350 for about 75 minutes and cool before removing from the pan.
Mrs Marie Wehrman hosted the Needlecraft Club meeting on October 3 with Bingo as the afternoon entertainment and prizes for all members. Miss Alice Stebe, vice president, led the business session and a Christmas party date was set for Blanche and Ethel’s Tea Room.
Mr and Mrs Chuck McCarty of Centerville formerly Ida residents adopted Kevin Charles born Aug 9 1975 weighing seven pounds 14 ounces arriving Sept 5. they have daughter Jennifer almost four. Separately Mr and Mrs Richard Dick Neubauer Lineville welcomed Brandi Jo seven pounds ten ounces born Sept 24 1975 at Leon Hospital with two brothers Bryan and Brent. Grandparents listed for Morgan Conrad Stella Neubauer and B G Crecelius Sarasota while Rick Peterson Jr is identified with Marshalltown family and paternal grandmother Mary L Peterson of Arcadia Calif noted as omitted.
Nancy Walsh of the Department of Conservation spoke on The Management and Preservation of Our Resources for the Steamboat Rock Progress Club on October 2. The talk was coordinated by program chairman Mrs Jesse Mann and hosted at the home of Mrs Doug Frerichs. The October 22 meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at Mrs Laverne Wubbens home.
Seventy seven persons enjoyed perfect October weather Friday October 3 as they left at 6 a.m. for a two bus trip to Nauvoo Illinois across the Mississippi from Fort Madison Iowa. The group toured the historical museum Brigham Young home Nauvoo Temple and more before lunch at the Nauvoo Cafe. Members from Union Zearing Grundy Center Hubbard Garden City Radcliffe Steamboat Rock Story City Roland Eldora and other towns sponsored by Hardin County Farm Bureau Women joined the trip.
Dottie Carpenter of Iowa Falls, Pine District chair, urged Girl Scout leaders to use North Iowa Council resources in Mason City at the Oct 3 neighborhood meeting. She announced the annual North Iowa Council meeting set for Nov 17 in Mason City and noted neighborhood swimming by troops on the fourth Mondays of October and November at Iowa Training School pool.

Priscilla Blecha described the Colombian adoption process and issues at the Monday Nighters meeting on Oct. 6. She and husband Jim adopted a girl named Susana in Colombia last June and shared a Bogota trip movie and snapshots.
Dale Landt of Union will celebrate his birthday Sunday October 19, and friends are urged to send cards. He is in Room 605 at Younkers Rehabilitation Center in Des Moines after a farm accident on April 5 that left him hospitalized.
