The Eldora paper announces a price rise to 18 cents per copy citing rising costs and tradition. It notes readers may recall a similar hike in nearby papers and asks for understanding while defending the change as necessary.
More than 20 antique cars will be shown Saturday October 14 as Eldora hosts Antique Automobile Club Cedar Valley Region. Enthusiasts Paul Barnard Wilson Hadley from north central Iowa join in the event with displays at the courthouse square and a museum visit schedule in Grundy Center Cedar Falls and Dike. 9:15 a.m. start at College Square Cedar Falls with a 3:30 p.m. display end and a 1:30 p.m. visit to the Hilpipre Wildlife Museum in Cedar Falls follow a banquet in Eldora. Overnight stays planned with a daylight Sunday tour and picnic activities in Dike.
The library invites children ages four to five to a Saturday story hour at ten, with animal and adventure themes. A new Halloween art print collection debuts October 31 with brochure previews and reservations. Readers can enjoy new children's titles and a selection for adults, including Dark Horse and memoirs, as Halloween approaches.
Sealed bids for street construction bonds totaling 1500000 and sewer bonds totaling 90000 are invited by the City of Eldora Iowa. Bids due by 8 PM October 1972 with highest bid awarded on cash basis to lowest net interest cost. Purchasers may choose bond denominations 1000 or 35000, with separate issues sold to the best bidder.
The town proposes selling bonds maturing on a common date with a single interest rate not exceeding the stated rate. Delivery to Eldora or Des Moines or other agreed place. bidders may be required to cover delivery costs. Sale contingent on approving opinion of attorneys in Des Moines. bids may be rejected.
