Eldora Parking Meters Earn Half Revenue For City

Revenue from Eldora parking meters shows $3,336 for Nov 1948 to Nov 1949 and $3,073 for 1949 50. With 168 meters costing $10,825, half monthly revenue goes to the Dual Company and the city has paid off more than half the debt. At current rates, $4,415 remains and would be cleared in about 15 months. The year’s total dipped but monthly patterns vary, with December 1948 the peak at $337 and June 1949 at $289. The meter fund, used for tools repairs meter policeman salary and snow removal, holds about $2,800.

Teachers Enrolling In Guidance Course At Iowa Falls

Hardin county teachers may enroll in an in service training guidance course to begin February 6 at the new high school speech room in Iowa Falls. State DPI organizes revised pupil guidance training with three semester hours credit toward certificate renewal.

All Day Service at Eldora Assembly of God

The Eldora Assembly of God will host an all day service next Sunday led by Rev. W. L. Uessey. Sunday school begins at ten, morning worship at eleven with sermon by the pastor. A basket meal will be served at noon followed by singing at 2:30.

Baptist Brotherhood Plans Oyster Supper

The Mews Brotherhood of the Baptist church will host an oyster stew supper Tuesday evening next week at 6:30. Special music will accompany the program and Ralph Moore of Newton, a friend of Dr. R E Gray, will present colored slides from a five week trip along the Alaska Highway. The Brotherhood invites local men to attend.

Seven Men Inducted After December Draft Call Hardin County

Hardin county selective service reports a 2 percent call to forward seven registrants for induction on Wednesday December 13. Names listed include Russell Zesmaan, Charles Coyle, Paul Kerayis, Donald Reesmen, Tyarks Jr., Paul Conrad, Elmer Riffen, and others, with transfers from Ackley Iowa Falls Des Moines and Chicago. A bus will depart from the junction west of Eldora for the induction.

Churches to Make Survey Tuesday

Eldora churches jointly sponsor a community survey to determine church membership or preference for all families in the city. About 125 volunteers from seven churches will conduct the five‑minute survey Tuesday morning November 21, using family record cards listing family and child names and ages.

Community Carols Sing Planned on Courthouse Square

A community sing featuring Christmas carols will be held on the courthouse square next month, sponsored by the Eldora Ministerial Association and the Rotary Kiwanis clubs. The public will join church choirs in the season’s songs with words displayed on a screen. Date and details to be set at a planning meeting of representatives from the sponsoring groups.
