Thorne Lightfield Vows Solemnized in Union The

Miss Belm Janet Thorne daughter of Leon and Mrs Thorne of Sheldahl and Rollin L Lightfield son of LeRoy and Mrs Lightfield were married at 9 am Saturday in Union in the minister’s home Rev Ben Harris officiating. Attendants were Harold Crippen and wife from Iowa Falls. The ceremony drew only the couple’s parents. They will reside in Eldora where Lightfield works at the O Bryan Chevrolet and Olds Garage. he is a former USAF member. Mrs Lightfield works at Don’s Royal Blue Food Store. A wedding dinner followed at Sheldahl with the bride’s parents hosting.

Lutheran Ladies Bazaar Meeting At Church Basement

The Lutheran Ladies Aid met with 70 members and 30 guests in the church basement. Rev. John Zimmermann led song scripture and prayer, with reports on the zone tally Latimer and home finding society. Volunteers urged to wash windows for the new educational building. December meeting set for 1:30 p.m. with new officers to be elected.

VFW Sewing Circle Plans Christmas Boxes for Veterans

The VFW Sewing Circle met at the Post Home for the regular November meeting and organized Christmas boxes for hospitalized veterans. Carpet rags were also sewn during the session.

Monday Nighters Hold Meeting With Guest Speaker

The Monday Nighters met November 3 at Mrs. Virgil Schmidt's home with co-hostess Mrs. Bud Lewis. Fifteen members and two guests, Julie Myers and her mother, attended. Julie Myers spoke on her Germany exchange trip with slides and articles. A bake sale at Biggetts was voted for November 22. refreshments were served at Blanche and Ethel's Tea Room. The December 1 meeting will be a dinner meeting at Mrs. Ray Nance's home with Mrs. Bill Trampe as co-hostess.

Cecilians Meet in Regular Club Session

The Cecilians gathered Monday night at Mrs. Charles Mohler’s home with nineteen members present. President Mrs. Sam Romberg led the business meeting and welcomed new member Mrs. Joe Hubbard. The group planned a November 19 rehearsal at Mrs. Leh nus’s home and noted December arts meeting would be omitted. Two Edward MacDowell Sea Pieces were played, and coffee and cookies were served.

A Bazaar and bake sale was planned with Christmas party on December 2 at the Hardin County Youth Building. A 50 cent gift exchange was held and prizes were won by Mrs Edward Tordoff and Mrs Harley Hoelscher.

The W M C of the Assembly of God met in the church basement on November 4 with 11 in attendance. The meeting opened with choruses, Psalm 61 read by Mrs. Leroy Whiteman, and prayers offered. Plans for Harvest Home Sunday were discussed and a box was packed for Lillian Thrasher in Egypt.

Mr and Mrs Ralph Allbee hosted the W A M L C Club for a November pot luck dinner at 6 30 p m Sunday. A fall flower arrangement centered the table. The Junior Union Pals 4-H club met at Linda Cutler's home on October 25 with 17 members and one visitor present. On October 27 the Tipton Toppers held their monthly meeting at Hubbard School lunch room with a potluck supper for parents and members at 6 30. It was combined with the 4 H girls Booster Par. Richard Nehring spoke on boys 4 H club work and the girls club presented a program. Lawrence Rudolph spoke on projects costs and income. James Goode county extension director discussed a well rounded 4 H club.

Weekend visits and family gatherings in Eldora area

Miss Kathy Emmert spent the weekend in Ames with her cousin Miss Joleen Clay a student at Iowa State. Numerous relatives and friends visited Eldora and surrounding towns during the weekend including the Haskins from Buckingham and Reinbeck moving to a new farm south of Eldora. Several trips described to Omaha Des Moines Faribault and California. Bill Crandall had back surgery and is recovering well.
