East Waterloo No-Hits Eldora in District Semi final
East Waterloo pitcher Bud Mateus threw a no hitter to defeat Eldora 3-0 in the district tournament semifinal at Channes City. Mateus fanned 10 Tigers as Eldora failed to reach base after Carroll Walters walked in the first inning. An unearned run in the third and two more hits in the fourth plus two doubles in the seventh sealed Eldora's fate. Glen Dele allowed six hits.

Dunn to Teach At Denison High School
Earl Dunn, Eldora instrument music instructor for three years, will teach at Denison High School in western Iowa next year. He planned graduate study but chose high school teaching and summer work toward a masters. Dunn led a strong three year music program and will head the summer band. Denison High enrollments are larger than Eldora’s. Mrs. Florence Northrup announced the birth of Teresa La Venne to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Engel.

Voters Approve Fire Alarm Upgrade in Hubbard
Hubbard residents approve a 4000 dollar funding for a new football field lighting and blast alarm system at Hidora High. The ballot passed 123 to 90 amid heavy turnout of 213. An arrest followed when a traveling salesman E R Abel of Humeston was found with firecrackers after a loud blast. He received a 30 day sentence.
