Eldora senior Stephanie A. Tesch has been named a Reader's Digest Merit Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the first Eldora High School student to win since the program began in 1957. She plans to study English at Macalester College and will receive between 200 and 2000 dollars per year based on need.

C J O Neill 59 longtime Union businessman and owner of the O Neill Supper Club died Wednesday at Eldora Community Hospital after weeks of illness. Services Saturday 11 a m at St Marys Catholic Church Eldora with Rev John Zwack. rosary Friday 8 p m at Biersborn Funeral Home Union. Interment Eldora Cemetery. He served in the Navy, later ran a truck line and school bus routes, and was a member of St Marys, American Legion, and Union Booster Club. He is survived by his wife Esther nee Pigpane of Denver and a sister and brother.
