Home Show Opens Today in Eldora with 33 Displays
The Eldora Jaycee Home Show starts today at 1 p.m. in the Eldora youth building, with 33 home improvement and recreation displays. It runs through 9 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, featuring entertainment by Duane Eliot and Floppy of WHO at 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 2:30 p.m. Eldora clothiers join a spring style show. Registration for over $200 in prizes and other giveaways is available, with a lunch stand run by Eldora Jaycee wives.

Hubbard Youth Escapes Injury In Pickup Mishap
A Hubbard boy, 15 or 16, escaped serious injury when his father's 1971 Chevrolet pickup hit five head of black Angus cattle on a bridge one mile west of New Providence at 9 15 p.m. Tuesday. Three cattle died on impact, two were destroyed. The youth faces driving without a license in Eldora Justice Court Friday night. The Hardin County Sheriff's Office also reported a stolen 1967 International pickup found at Ames and a Steamboat Rock juvenile admitted breaking into Luiken Hardware March 20, with a county attorney to consider further action.

Signs of Spring Work Begins On Highway 175 Project
Heavy equipment and construction crews moved into the area last week for the widening project on Highway 175 east of Eldora. Work starts April 2 and will cover 4.302 miles in Hardin County from the Iowa River bridge east of Eldora to the Grundy county line, reaching from the bridge to the Junction of Highway 14 and 175 near Wellsburg. Crews will grade from the ends toward the center, with temporary roads to keep local traffic open and intersections to remain accessible when possible. Weather permitting, a December 3 completion is targeted. Filler photos show equipment east of Eldora and linemen placing light poles at Pine Lake State Park entrance.

The Hardin County Health Planning Assembly approved nursing home projects for Hubbard and Iowa Falls under Iowa's home rule law. Hubbard plans a 56 bed facility by Professional Builders inc with land, equipment, and building costs totaling about 372,000. Iowa Falls would add 100-110 beds funded by revenue bonds with a 805,000 to 920,000 construction estimate. New members Ervin Miller W C Lettow and Rev Preston Hinderks joined the assembly.
