The 38 star flag from Walter Sayer Post No 182 of Eldora will be shown at the Legion Birthday dinner on Monday March 15 and at the awards night on Wednesday March 17 in the Eldora Legion clubroom. Vice Commander Henry Abbas Jr will speak at the birthday dinner starting at 6 30 p.m. and pins for 45 and 50 years will be awarded at 8 p.m. The flag was made in Philadelphia in 1876 and presented to the post in 1947 by Parker S Davis.

County Farm Considered as Possible Landfill Site
Hardin County Solid Waste Disposal Committee met in Eldora to discuss using the county farm northwest of Eldora as a county wide landfill site. Mary Peterson, 65, of Liscomb known as Top Hand, will stop riding to monitor a herd of purebred Herefords with husband Harold as they prepare to sell at the Marshalltown sale barn on Monday, March 15. Since moving to the farm in 1942, she has ridden daily across 1900 acres, crossing the Iowa River to retrieve calves and breaking many colts, recalling horse highs from Des Moines fairs and early triumphs with Nickel Plate and All American Walk Trot Horse.

Hardin County Pork Producers will hold its annual meeting Monday March 15 in Eldora with about 500 attendees. Union Legion Post Sets 52nd Birthday Dinner
American Legion Post No. 955 at Union will sponsor a 52nd birthday dinner at the South Hardin Recreation Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday March 18. Fire damages gray farm house roof in Eldora blaze
Eldora firefighters were summoned to the Robert Gray farm southeast of Eldora around 6 10 p m Tuesday where the roof of the house was on fire. Firemen contained the blaze before extensive damage occurred. Chief Orville Lamb cited chimney sparks as the fire source.

619 Hardin Farms In Feed Grain Program To Date
