Eldora high school senior class sponsors the WHO home talent show with 50 plus participants from Hardin county. The program in HHS gym features 28 acts led by Dixie Jordan as master of ceremonies and Mary Lee the yodeling cowgirl. Act lineup includes multiple soloists, duets, instrumental and dance numbers with performers from Eldora Owasa Radcliffe Alden Grundy Center Iowa Falls and Jowa Falls. Proceeds fund the 1960 yearbook, with many local talents and sponsors listed.

131 Adults Earn Diplomas At Eldora Graduation
Eldora adult evening school held graduation in EHS gymnasium with 131 students receiving attendance diplomas. Arthur Brayton of Des Moines bureau was guest speaker. Work displayed from art home mechanics sewing home furnishing and commercial agriculture and men’s recreation classes. Superintendent K Schmidt reported over 300 adults participated in 1949 50 program and 65 Rotarians and farmers attended the prior dinner.

Public Forums On Farm Policy Being Planned
Public open forum meetings on the National Farm Policy will be held in Hardin County in March under extension service sponsorship. Two Farm School Classes Planned at G I Training

Steamboat Fire Causes $400 Damage in Home
An upstairs bedroom fire at the Verne Buhr home across from the Potgeter elevator in Steamboat Rock caused about 300 to 400 dollars in damage. The blaze, from an overheated pipe, was fought by the Steamboat volunteer department. an Eldora truck arrived too late. Fire damaged floorwork ceiling joists and caused smoke and water loss. Red Cross aided the Buhr family by buying bedding worth about 75 dollars. Mr Buhr works in Marshalltown.

Eldora Urges Voluntary Brownout Amid Coal Shortage
Mayor D M Nyquist announced a voluntary precautionary brownout to ease electric strain as strikes threaten supply. Commercial users should cut window lights and advertising signs while residents use only necessary lighting. Eldora currently has no immediate danger, but coal rationing limits stock. some lump coal remains, stoker coal scarce. The Eldora school reports seven days of coal, with rail shipments uncertain, while city officials seek fuel options and apportionment planning.

Farm Bureau Scholarships for Rural Teacher Training

Plans Campaign For Members With 200 Goal
Eldora Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting at the Congregational church basement with 115 attendees. Five directors were elected for two year terms: Miles Albright Lauren Maltby Lester E Ose L A Scott and Merle Stevens.
