Eldora Wins to Reach Town State Semi Finals
Eldora defeated Valley High of Des Moines 88 to 76 to advance to the semifinals of the 1056 Town state girls basketball tournament in Des Moines. The Berettes set an all time tournament scoring record and will play Friday night winner of Garrison versus New Sharon for a shot at the championship. Eldora led 45-43 at halftime and 21-18 after the first quarter.

Award $75,000 In Damage Suit In Iowa Falls Case
Donald Cox, 97, of Iowa Falls, was awarded 76,000 by a Minneapolis court against Rock Island Railroad for injuries from a 490 pound freight car door that fell at the Ralston Purina plant in Iowa Falls in April 1954. He had sued for 125,000 and said he can only do light work. The district court jury returned the verdict. Cox was represented by John P. Whitesell and Walter Riorden.
