County ditch plan approved by supervisors and hearing date set
The board of supervisors approved a drainage plan covering 24 000 acres including Hubbard and Raxcliffe plats with an estimated cost of 120 000. About 30 miles of ditch would be built with 12 miles funded locally. A county rally for boys and girls at the fairgrounds directed by County Agent Walker and Superintendent Stoddard was a success. Mrs Newcomer entertained married daughters and mothers. Mr and Mrs Reaver and Lucille left for Northampton Mass where Jerene graduated from Smith College.

Eldora bridge speed limit may trigger overhaul plans
Rumblings note reduction of speed on the high bridge from 35 to 20 mph to reduce vibration. The 47 year old structure built in 1914 cost 39,400 shared by Hardin county 25,000 the city 10,000 and citizens the rest. The 960 foot long bridge rises 68 feet above the river with a 24 foot abutment elevation difference. Local chatter questions if the slower limit will be observed by truckers heading to the east hill as discussions of updating from 165 plans for a new structure continue.
