Gene Farmer Fish Tale Sparks Minnesotas Fishing Report
Gene Farmer should have stayed home last week and fished instead of going to Minnesota. Gene's son Jerry caught a 4 1/2 pound bass at Pine Lake State Park Sunday. Rumor says the bass was larger than any fish Gene brought home. Carson brought home pajamas reportedly from an Eldora party. Union-Whitten's Carol Hannusch will join 15 girls in the Iowa Track Club at the Girls' National Federation Meet in Houston. Hannusch is the state shot put champion with a new state standard. Mushroom hunting yields a productive spring. several giant moths and 10 inch highs noted. Radish casting into the Iowa River prompts calls for a good flushing. Most notable spring catches come from Lower and Upper Pine Lakes. Jerry Higegason of Sheffield, formerly Eldora, caught a 14 ounce crappie, 13 inches, in Upper Pine Lake using a minnow.
