Carroll Hobson Named 1970 Outstanding Commissioner
Carroll Hobson of Eldora was named the North Central Region I 1970 Outstanding Soil Conservation Commissioner at Hamp ton on July 27. The Hardin Soil Conservation District leader, a commissioner since 1965, has driven flood recovery efforts, watershed programs, and educational initiatives while earning regional and state recognition for his service. He and his wife Catharine have four children.

The 99th Hardin County Fair starts Monday in Eldora with a $300 cash award program during evening grandstands on Tuesday and Thursday. A teen hop begins at 9 p.m. Monday. three grandstand shows run Tuesday to Thursday. A 11-class horse show offers prizes from $5 to $1 ribbons. The Jose Chitwood Thrill Show returns Wednesday, greyhound races Thursday, and a Meet Your Candidates program precedes. Lt. Gov. Roger Jepsen plans to attend. Ticket prices remain unchanged from last year.

Goode Resigns Extension Post Hire Ames Man
James H. Goode Hardin county extension director for 12 years resigns effective July 31. James Johnson of Ames, 29, will replace him around December 1 after completing an ISU animal science masters. Goode to aid through September and plans to stay in Eldora. Johnson has six years of extension experience in Iowa and is married with two children. Council also heard objectors to the 1971 budget and accepted it after the hearing.

Andrie and Creps Funeral Home of Eldora is in charge of arrangements. Miss Noack was born in Pleasant township Hardin county March 9 1892 to Alfred and Belle Horner Noack. She spent her entire life in Eldora and the surrounding area. her parents and is survived by one cousin Robert Booth of Colorado Springs Colo.
