City Hires Sewer Survey Firm Cancels Old Light Plant Deals
Eldora city council met in regular session to authorize a new contract with Henningson Engineering Co of Omaha for a field survey to plan sewer improvements and to cancel four light plant construction contracts from 1947. The firm would prepare preliminary plans a report and an estimated cost with a 300 dollar fee for the survey and four percent of construction cost for detailed specs if a federal loan funds the project. The council also cancelled old light plant contracts by mutual agreement noting that a 1948 16 year franchise to Central States Electric Co made municipal plant operation impractical. The action releases all parties from obligations after about 25 months.
