Farmers Urged To Seed Shelbys Oat Variety
Dick Pulse extension director urges Hardin county farmers to seed part of their 1951 oat acreage to the Shelby oat. He notes Shelby oat's high yield from 1946 to 1950 across 15 varieties at 13 Iowa locations, partial disease resistance to crown rust, and favorable lodging figures, recommending Shelby for farmers seeking profit despite not resolving all oat production issues.
