Funeral Friday for Dick Koch in Wellsburg
Funeral services will be held Friday August 16 at 1:30 p.m. at St Pauls Lutheran Church northeast of Wellsburg for Dick W. Koch 69 of Wellsburg. Rev Clarence Alexander will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home of Wellsburg is handling arrangements. Koch died at his home Tuesday of an apparent heart attack. Past FFA state fair grandstand ushers from New Providence Eldora or nearby chapters are invited to attend a salute marking FFA ushers 1950 74 year at the 1974 Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. Eldora area school boards elect Hubbard man to AEA District 2
Harley Faust of Hubbard was elected director from District 2 for Area Six Education Agency during Tuesday night elections in Eldora. The move brands the area board to replace county boards by July 1, 1975, with organization ahead of the changeover. The meeting at the Eldora Community School was led by James V Hauser. Voters from Hubbard Eldora Steamboat Rock Union Whitten New Providence Wellsburg Radcliffe participated, with West Marshall not represented. County Superintendent William Murray ran the process as secretary. Final tallies gave Faust 41.1 votes, Langfritz 37.0, Harris 11.2. Radcliffe 12.2 votes, Eldora 30.9, Wellsburg 12.5, Union Whitten 11.2, Steamboat Rock 6.1, New Providence 4.5, West Marshall 10.7. The board will need to hire an area superintendent and other directors but funds come next year as a budget is prepared for state approval.

Beef check-off referendum passes in Hardin County
Thirty-two Hardin county cow calf producers and beef feeders voted on the check-off referendum to fund promotion and education for Iowa beef. 22 supported the proposal, 10 opposed. The plan raises the check-off from 10 to 25 cents on slaughter cattle and adds a 10 cent check for feeder cattle with optional refunds within 60 days. All 99 counties supported the referendum. Fred Kekstadt joins Carl Black Agency as district agent for National Travelers Life Co after Keough Bill training and eight and a half years as Eldora Community School instrumental music director.
