Miss Frerichs Shower Honoring Bride Elect

Miss Frerichs was feted at a Friday evening shower hosted by Mrs Wm. Schuneman and Mrs Irvin Gast of Steamboat Rock at the Schuneman home. Forty guests attended as corsages were given to the bride elect and her mother. A white wedding bell centerpiece hung over the gift table with lily of the valley sprigs on streamers. lilac yellow and white decor. Games were played with prizes. gifts numbered many lovely and useful items.

Pleasant Peppy Teens Hold Achievement Day Display

The Pleasant Peppy Teens met Tuesday July 28 at Miss Kathleen Wehrman home with eleven members and two leaders. The session opened with the 4 H pledge, records and fair booth were reviewed, then the annual achievement day exhibits were judged by Mrs Maurice Cook Mrs Ferris and Rosemary Ferris, followed by lunch.

In Hubbard a double ring ceremony at Salem Evangelical United Brethren church united Mavis Mannetter and Clive Cook. Rev. MacCanon officiated. Kitchen Shower Honors Miss Heslop

Mrs. Glen Cole and several hostesses entertained thirty five friends at a kitchen shower for Miss Mary Lu Heslop. She will wed Eugene M. Lucas of Grundy Center on August 16. Three games were played with prizes forfeited to the bride, decorations featured lavender and pink, and lavender umbrella favors. Miss Nancy Heslop assisted in opening gifts.

Happy Hustlers 4-H Achievement Day Recaps Demonstrations

The Eldora Happy Hustlers 4-H club held achievement day Friday at 1 30 p m in Miss Ruth Halasey’s home. Ten members, two readers and twelve guests attended. Julie Kelly Janet Freed demonstrated Merry Mixes With Milk. Janet Freed and Diane Prosser will be the junior demonstration team for the fair. Julia Clingerman and Donna Rooks demonstrated An American Dairy Specialty. Refreshments were served. The next meeting is planned for Sept 14 at Miss Julie Kelly’s home.

Girl Scout Camp Training Held by Eldora Council

A Tuesday evening meeting at Mrs. R. R. Bateson's home, training chairman, gathered about thirty including camp and program committees leaders senior scouts and mothers. The Eldora Girl Scout Camp will run at Quarry Heights August 24 to 28 with special materials and planning underway. Parents will receive letters with camp details. the next training session is August 17 at the Wildlife Club from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mr and Mrs Clarence Orgel hosted Sunday dinner for Mrs Ziesman and her in laws Mr and Mrs C F Ziesman and Mr and Mrs Ernest Orgel. An evening visit at daughter Milun Schwinger’s home revealed a surprise birthday tribute with thirteen guests, cake, and ice cream.

The Lettow family reunion will be held at Pine Lake Wildlife Club each Sunday in August. Officers include president Herman Lettow of Iowa Falls and vice president Vernon Blome of Alden with historian Grace Vierkandt of Buckeye. Mrs. John Lettow of Iowa Falls holds the family album. Chas H Brownell of San Clemente California visits Eldora with sister Mrs Grace Protheroe after a Washington DC trip. The group plans a Ft Pierre South Dakota rodeo weekend with Casey Tibbs benefiting 4 H. Sherry Lou Burnett will return home.

Weekend visitors gather in Eldora households

Des Moines resident Mrs. Carrie Lamb and numerous relatives visited Eldora in the Krominga home and others across town. The group included Waterloo and Reinbeck guests, a Chicago area family en route from Yellowstone, and multiple relatives from Des Moines to Jackson Tennessee.
