Mrs J E Davidson of Eldora announces the approaching marriage of her daughter Jean to Donald W McGuire son of Mr and Mrs Willis McGuire of Stanwood Iowa. The wedding will take place May 7 at the Methodist church here.
Unit one of St Marys Study Club met with Mrs Lawrence McNertney Tuesday evening to continue the study of the church. Miss Emma Burke will host the group on April 25.
Mrs Jeannette Wickey was reelected president of the Business and Professional Women's group Tuesday evening. Other officers named included Bernice Hall as corresponding secretary, Buelah Eckhoff recording secretary, Bernice Frerichs treasurer, Betty Lou Hubbard first vice president, Alvena Gildemeister second vice president, and Carol Stonebrook delegate at large. Mary McGivney Iowa Falls district director attended as a guest. An International Relations committee chaired by Mrs A E Anderson, Mrs V H Vilmont, and Ruby Miller led the evening after a dinner at the Cox sisters home.
Mary Lou Gerlach daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Gerlach of Hubbard married Ralph Edward West son of Mr. and Mrs. F. D. West of Des Moines on Saturday afternoon April to the Trinity Lutheran Church Des Moines officiated by Rev. Eynon. The bride wore white with blue accessories and carried red roses. Ann Gerlach was maid of honor in green with pink roses. John West was best man. A reception followed at the Uno home. The couple will reside in Des Moines where Mrs. West works as a nurse at Broadlawns General Hospital and Mr. West is with Meredith Publishing.
Des Moines visitors Shirley Ann Heggen residence of cousin Carolyn Anderson. Easter weekend sees multiple families in Cedar Rapids, Ames, Prescott and Tama. Hodgson Furniture winners named. F.D.I.C. examiner John L. Cramer to Washington. New cars listed across several towns. Local residents travel to Nashville and Creston.
Country club members will attend a Chuck Wagon dance on Thursday evening April 20 with western attire and a barbecue buffet lunch. The organizing committee includes Mr. and Mrs. John Bekemeier, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Luglan, Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Steckler, Dr. and Mrs. John Shorts, and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Smith.
Ina Mae North daughter of Mr and Mrs Lee North Eldora and Donald E Beye Marshalltown wed Sunday at First Methodist Whit officiated by Rev B H Harris with Milo Schwarck pianist and Donna Jean McDonald singing. Reception guests from Memphis Osage Center Point Marshalltown Iowa Falls Laurel Haverhill Woden. After a week’s trip they will reside in Marshalltown.
Mrs John Shurts was named president at a one o'clock luncheon hosted by Mrs J R Bahne with 27 members present. Officers elected included Mrs Shurts as president Mrs Ferguson as vice president Mrs Jackson as secretary and Mrs Hauser as treasurer.

The Young Mothers club met Tuesday evening at Mrs. Lloyd Palmitier s home for a bridge and canasta party. Eighteen members attended. co-hostesses were Mrs. Robert Jackson, Mrs. Val Hilsabeck and Mrs. Ray Pyle. Guests included Mrs. Raleigh King Jr. and Mrs. Roger Cain. High prize in canasta went to Mrs. B W Burke and bridge to Mrs. William Luick.
Mrs. Cecil Way hosted the Mothers club on Tuesday evening with husbands of members as guests. Thirty six attended a dinner before a bridge game. Prizes went to Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Scott, Mrs. Beecher Crosley, Ned Fagg and Mrs. D. W. Dickinson. The organizing committee included Mrs. Robert Fergson, Mrs. Lloyd Berg and Mrs. Floyd Gaede.

Members of the Pine Lake Sadd le Club held a party at the Pine Lake Wildlife club house Wednesday evening with over 70 attendees. Games entertained the children as a business meeting preceded the fun. Committee members were Mr and Mrs R A Smith Mr and Mrs D R Wittet Mr and Mrs Harold Priske Jackie Hootman and Mr and Mrs Vincent Platts.
At Ackley county Federation of Woman's clubs meeting Mrs. G. W. Kurtz of Eldora, county chairman, was elected to attend the national convention in Boston in May and will name her alternate. Eldora's Mrs. C. E. Barnes placed third in the district book reading contest. A panel on racial and religious differences was presented by four Jes Maines group members. Attendees from Eldora included Mary Ziesman Wyatt Johnson L. V. Putnam Paul Miller M. L. Puckette G. W. Kurtz Edith Mohr C. J. Piper V. H. Vilmont and P. S. Davis.
The 20th Century Club met at the library Monday with 10 members and three visitors as Mrs. Mary Ziesman reviewed The House that Jacob Built in a joint program with Hawthorne club. Hawthorne met at Glen Kurtz home with 12 members and two guests as Mrs. Morris Modlin hosted. Mrs. Cecil Rooks of the 20th Century Club reviewed How to Live Beyond Your Means.
The committee invites a party Friday evening. Mrs Ray Keesley and daughter Wanda of Muncie Indiana are guests of Mrs Smith, the sister of the host. This is their first visit here in 21 years.
The Hitmet group met Monday night with Edwin Anderson leading in president Orlan Mitchell’s absence. A panel with Gordon Lamb and Dick Pettigrew tackled dating etiquettes for junior senior proms chaired by Anderson. TRI-AI-Y TO MEET will decide April 29 at Town City spring conference. freshmen may be delegates. juniors banquet conflicts hinder attendance.
