Sophomores defeat Freshmen in a tug of war at Peak's pond, taking the east side first and finishing in about one and a half minutes. Seventeen sophomores vs fifteen freshmen, aided by juniors and seniors, with the event noted as the shortest contest since 1913 and the first to have two consecutive wins by one class. Continued on page 3.
The schedule lists Hanover games against Rose Poly Terre Haute on Oct 9 at Terre Haute, Barham on Oct 23 at Hanover, Franklin on Oct 29 at Franklin, K M A on Nov 6 at Linden Kentucky, and Butler on Nov 13 at Indianapolis.
Capehart of Jeffersonville chosen as Crawfordsville Y M C A boys secretary. He is a Hanover College graduate and current Chicago Y M C A secretary for boys work. Selection followed thorough vetting amid a strong field. he will assume duties mid September.
The music department adds a five year Bachelor of Music degree with two study tracks voice and piano or voice and organ. Core courses include Psychology I Harmony I Counterpoint Analysis I and Ear Training. Four recitals are required and 196 hours of credit. Professor Alexander notes this places the department on par with larger schools.
Three class elections set officers for the year with seniors choosing C E Colgate as president and R J Millis as vice president Gladys Cox treasurer Janette Culbertson and secretary The October social committee includes Gwladys Roberts Fern Brittan and I E Brashear Sophomore officers include Lawrence as president B P Leeds as vice president and E S Rogers as secretary treasurer Freshman officers include L P Brett as president J Hyatt as vice president A Brashear as treasurer and Alice Miller as secretary Colors were changed from purple and gold to black and white for the seniors and blue and gold for the freshmen
Upper classes approve a committee chosen from three classes to select uniform green caps for freshmen and enforce wearing. The plan aims to boost school spirit and class unity, with R J Millis as chairman and I S Allison and B P Leeds as members. Caps expected within a week.
Dr T C Moffett class of 90 Washington DC superintendent of American Indians Missions visited Hanover for a short time Monday. He is en route to Washington and directs work for several denominations under the Presbyterian board. The Interior Department regards him as a leading Indian affairs authority after a survey he completed of that field.
