Hanover College Dramatic Club Opens Season With Farces

The 1910 11 Hanover College Dramatic Club opened in the Assembly Hall with a two part program The Fatal Mistake a one act farce and A Scrap of Paper a three act farce featured strong ensemble work by F C Millis Thaddeus Perkins Miss Margaret Hawk J B Allison and others The cast received hearty applause for clever acting and stage antics with noted performances by Miss Niles Miss Britain L E Winslow and Miss McLelland among others.

Class Basketball Schedule For Sims Trophy Contests

The class games for the Sims Trophy season feature seniors sophomores juniors and freshmen competing for the engraved silver loving cup. The schedule shows seniors vs sophomores on December 10 seniors vs juniors on December 2 juniors vs freshmen on December 9 and sophomores vs freshmen on December 3 with more post holiday games to follow. Rules limit eligibility to regular students not in H counted games and require the faculty to appoint officials under official Collegiate rules. Attendance has been strong and interest remains high.

Thanksgiving Reception at Hanover College

The ladies of the faculty and their husbands will host an informal reception for students townspeople and friends in Assembly Hall on Thanksgiving evening. Citizens of Hanover Madison and nearby areas are invited. The event promises a cordial atmosphere and a good time for all.

Glee Club Plans Advance With Rehearsal Increase

The Glee Club moves toward a successful season as 26 members train weekly and will rehearse three times weekly starting next week. Professor Belcher aims to trim the group to fifteen and guide concert planning, with J B Allison elected as leader to organize rehearsals and advise on selections. An eight man orchestra may join on winter trips and Miss Estella Kehoe has been practice pianoist, though Belcher may play in concerts. The squad lists 26 named members and notes the absence of a tenor shortage this year.

Philal Union Debate Turmoil and Possible Moores Hill Clash

Rumor says the Philal Union debate may be canceled as Union fails to present a suitable topic. Philal refused the Constitutional Law subject when it was finally offered. A Moores Hill debate may follow, drawing regret over the uncertain discussion schedule.

Press Club Banquet Advances Journalism at Sigma Chi

The Journalistic Banquet at the Sigma Chi house featured an informal supper and a talk by Jimmie Almond, returning Editor in Chief. Professor Souter urged the value of journalism in shaping public and college opinion as the club plans an eight page football number for Nov 30 and next meets at Phi Delt house.

DePauw Triumphs Over Earlham in Conference Test

DePauw edged Earlham 18 to 12 in a muddled secondary championship clash as Butler beat DePauw and Earlham defeated Butler. The title remains unsettled with DePauw Earlham and Butler in the running.
