Hanover college faces major tree damage from a heavy snowstorm. Superintendent Robert R. Panzer estimates $400 to $700 in tree repair, with older pines and cedar tops snapped by the weight of snow. Two back-stops on athletic fields collapsed and cleanup slows campus duties.
An all day Thursday program features urbanization science and art with ten national authorities on campus. Notables include Havighurst Hall Burnham Humphrey Bernardo and Cook. Friday hosts a science press conference and closing panel in Parker Auditorium.
The Sunday Seminar features Dr Edward Huenemann, college chaplain, as the second policy maker to address the fall series. He will speak on "Why Church-related" following Dr Robert Cramer, the first speaker, who discussed "Hanover-1966 to 2000" and Dean Norris is scheduled after the Thanksgiving break.
President Horner reports receipt of an undated Board of Student Affairs communication and welcomes a campus committee to study Hanover College student discipline. He notes careful reading of the Board letter and expresses optimism about committee recommendations.

Donald Hall serves as editorial consultant for Harper and Row Co. He has published three poetry volumes Exiles and Marriages The Dark House and A Roof of Tiger Lilies. His short stories appeared in national magazines and a 1962 collection String Too Short To Be Saved. He wrote a successful play and is noted for literary criticism.
Perspectives Earl Ubell, president of the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, has covered major science stories and earned the American Cancer Society Award and Lasker Medical Writing Award. He is a former science editor of the New York Herald Tribune and vice-president of the Nuclear Energy Writers' Association. James Farmer, former CORE director and grandson of a slave, has worked since 1942 on racial issues and led CORE’s first freedom ride gaining international publicity.
The faculty voiced strong support for the Board of Student Affairs by voice vote, rejecting the board members resignation. A faculty member noted a very heavy majority against acceptance, estimating under 10 in favor. The third proposal to ask the President to form a study committee on discipline passed despite technical opposition, with concerns over equal student representation on the panel. Dean Haverkamp presided in President Horner's absence.
