Dirksen Named To Receive Honorary Law Degree At Hanover

Senator Everett Dirksen, Republican leader, will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws from Hanover College May 30 alongside Bradley University Hope College DePaul Lincoln Memorial University. He has a long government service record from Pekin Finance Commissioner to eight-term Congress member and Senate Minority Leader. If weather allows, Baccalaureate at 11 a.m. and Commencement at 3 p.m. will be held outdoors.

Trinkle Named Hanover Athlete of the Year 1965

Ken Trinkle a Paoli Indiana senior and physical education major at Hanover College was named Athlete of the Year for 1964 65 at Hanover's annual sports awards. He led the Panthers in scoring again this season and earned multiple honors including unanimous All Hoosier Conference selection and NAIA All-American honorable mention. He also starred in baseball and hit a home run against Louisville.

Ground breaking for Hanover J Graham Brown Campus Center

Tomorrow at 11 00 a ground breaking ceremony will mark the start of Hanover College s Campus Center construction across from Crowe Hall Administrators faculty and students will attend with a podium in the quad and chairs in front of Crowe Hall In case of rain the ceremony moves to Parker Auditorium Clarence O Hamilton of Hamilton Cosco Company will preside Max Poland will conduct the Hanover College Band Chaplain Edward Huenemann will give the invocation President John E Horner will acknowledge donor J Graham Brown James Nelson retiring Student Senate president will receive the signed book from students Thomas C Werbe will place the shovel and officials will turn it Sandy Wilcox newly elected Student Senate president will also participate The Alma Mater will close the event Classes will be canceled and attire is street clothes If conditions allow the building should finish by September 1966 The Campus Center will serve all Hanover Community with guest rooms a ballroom a portico a swimming pool bowling alleys a kitchen a multipurpose room a snack bar a bookstore and student offices

Schedule Announced for Fall Term Assembly Programs

An incomplete list of Assembly fall term programs was released by Dr. Owen Faut. The opening convo on Sept. 19 starts the term, followed by Student Senate installation. Events include a Sept. musical group led by Dr. Edward Lueders, a visit from MP Cowen Jackson, a October talk by physicist Dr. Ralph Lapp, December Christmas Choir, and the Woodwind Quintet in Oct or Nov.

Foreign Student Chosen by Hanover Committee Next Year

A committee of students and faculty will select a foreign student to come to Hanover next fall. Three candidates were named by the Institute of International Education. Ellen Fisher and Robert Larson organize the student committee with IFC and Pan Hellenic Council reps. Dr Tate and Mr Blanning represent the faculty.

CAS Programs Number Six Price Increase For Next Year

Next year's Community Artist Series expands to six performances and raises ticket prices. Three acts booked: a modern dress Anti gone on Sept 28. Ter essa Spanish dance on Oct 20. Louisville Symphony Orchestra on date to be announced with a Children’s Concert planned. Alternates include Don Shirley Trio, Mary Burgess, Berkshire String Quartet. Prices rise with student nine dollars faculty ten dollars and patronages and general tickets at least thirty dollars.
