Purdue defeats Hanover in season opener 6 to 0

Purdue shuts out Hanover in the first game of the season before about two thousand fans. Dawson pitched superbly for Hanover’s rivals as Purdue capitalized on infield errors in the first inning to grab four unearned runs and never looked back. Sam Dawson and Dickey starred for Hanover as Purdue's Charters struck out fifteen.

Music and Character in Mil lis Address to Teachers

Dr. Mills spoke at a Northern Indiana Teachers Association meeting on Music and Character. He argued character comes from following an ideal, not sheer will power, and that music is a key pleasure shaping youth. He urged teaching good music over folk songs and discussed high school fraternities as gang outgrowths, proposing supervised glee clubs to channel the impulse.

Miss Margaret McLelland 08 visits her parents. Senior Class has ordered caps and gowns and will soon appear among us in dignity. Practice has begun for the Senior play.

Moores Hill President Dr King Speaks at Chapel

Chapel Monday drew a large student audience as Dr. A King president of Moores Hill spoke with Rev MacDowell of Madison Ind. The talk praised small colleges, their usefulness and future growth aided by the Rockefeller foundation, and the shared athletic ties with Hanover College.

The Iota Chapter entertained their lady friends at their hall Saturday night. Music was supplied by Montgomery and Hughes. Miss Laura Gilbert of Jeffersonville and Miss Ethel Grossman of New Albany were visiting at the Point house and the Dorm respectively.

Indiana College English Instructors Gather for Annual Convention

The annual convention of English instructors from Indiana colleges met in Indianapolis with delegates from Purdue Wabash DePauw Butler Franklin Hanover Indiana University and State Normal. The day featured a literature presentation methods discussion led by Professor Aydelotte a noon banquet at the University Club and talks by Meridith Nicholson and S S McClure about modern writers and editing. McClure predicted The Broad Highway by Jeffrey Farnell as a future literary masterpiece. Officers for next year will be led by Professor Ayers of Purdue. Professor Souter and Miss Harding attended, reporting a profitable meeting.

Miss Marguerite Hills Returns to Hanover for Short Stay

Miss Marguerite Hills ex 12 returns to Hanover for a few days. The Sigma Chi Province Convention will be held here next week with George Ade among attendees. Regular Y M C A meeting Thursday night and a joint meeting Sunday at 7 p m. All out.
