Area students win top honors at LSU Spring Livestock Show
Richard Foley of Mt Hermon earned the Governor's Award as outstanding senior FFA member in Louisiana. Alford of Mt Hermon received the Superintendent of Education Award. North Louisiana 4-H winners included Carla Kyzar, Tina Warren, and Melynda Tobin with top dairy and bantam honors. Other awards went to Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, and Livingston Parishes in beef, swine, and bantam divisions.

Fire damages shed. diesel heater blamed at 1301 Harvey
A tool shed owned by Louis Clark at 1301 Harvey Street sustained 115 in damage from a fire Saturday morning caused by a malfunctioning diesel heater. Assistant Fire Chief Benny Collura reported no injuries. A Brotherhood meeting at New Haven Baptist Church 7 p.m. Wednesday will train men to form a Baptist men's organization and a B.A.'s program for boys in grades 6 through 12, open to all Baptist men.

Livingston Parish Courthouse Reopens After Remodel
The remodeled Livingston Parish Courthouse is ready for occupancy by several public agencies. The Food Stamp office has moved to the old building and other agencies plan moves this week weather permitting. Funding included a 358000 Economic Development Administration grant and 100000 in federal revenue sharing. The renovation reduced the courtroom and added judges chambers a client-lawyer office a larger library reading room a jail kitchen and upgraded infrastructure.

Soybean and corn meeting slated in Tangipahoa Parish
Three LSU cooperative Extension Service members will present a program on soybean and corn production at 9 30 a m February 10 in the Tangipahoa Parish Extension Service office Amite. Drs Lowell McCormick Olen Curtis and Walter Morrison will cover all phases of production. The meeting is open to all producers in the parish.
