Grand Isle cleanup readies island for summer visitors
Grand Isle Louisiana hosted a five day cleanup by a 25 man team from the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries led by Secretary J. Burton Angelle with DOT support. The effort followed Fourth of July crowds and aims to reduce litter and set a plan for ongoing beach cleanliness. The island, famed for the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo and Gulf access, draws tens of thousands of visitors each year and features nearby offshore oil, gas, and sulfur structures that attract diverse fishing.
