Troopers Target Hispanics in I 10 Stops Says Professor
Westfield State College assistant professor Jim Ruiz presented findings on racial profiling by Louisiana State Police and St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office at an Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences conference. He cites over 40 percent of drug arrests from 1989 to 1994 on a highway stretch involving Hispanic males, with 91 percent of those arrested outside Louisiana.
