Omapatrilat trial eyed to treat isolated systolic hypertension
In a Bristol-Myers Squibb funded study led by Kostis, elderly patients with systolic hypertension will test omapatrilat versus placebo to see if lowering systolic pressure improves outcomes. The trial, to be monitored by FDA speeded review, targets 65 plus with 141 to 159 systolic and diastolic below 90, with half receiving 20 or 40 mg daily. Alfred Feld, a first recruit, hopes the drug slows heart risk and improves function.
