Baby boy dies in Hammond fire started by cigarette lighter
A 13 month old boy died in his crib when a bedroom blaze broke out about 3 46 p m Friday in Hammond Tangipahoa Parish Coroner Dr Vincent Cefalu said Darrick Rudison 111 Centell Drive burned to death The fire occurred while the child’s siblings aged 2 3 and 4 were inside the home The fire department fought the flames from Central Station sending seven engines and 11 firefighters The incident prompts ongoing child protection investigations and no charges were filed against the mother Cheryl Rudison The home valued at 25000 belonged to John Courtney The city’s first fire fatality since December 31 1990 is noted.
