Youth choir picks four Hamiota students for tour

Four Hamiota students Nicole Mathison Cody Little Sheena Hamilton and Daniel Mathison join 45 other youth singers in the Western Manitoba Youth Choir for a Millennium Tri Choir Tour across Manitoba. The regional ensemble features 150 young singers directed by three conductors with concerts in Winnipeg Steinbach Portage la Prairie Brandon and Winnipeg is the final stop on October 15 at 7 30 p m. The program aims to offer high quality choral training for musically talented high school students.

Community Cancer program unveiled in Hamiota

A satellite Community Cancer Program opened on Sept 21 in Hamiota after a collaborative effort between CancerCare Manitoba and the Marquette Regional Health Authority. Officials including MRHA chair Robert Buternowsky and MLAs Stan Struthers and Len Derkach attended, with tours offered to the public. The program receives capital funding of 110,500 to MRHA and 66,600 to CancerCare Manitoba, plus operating funds for 2000-2001.
