Golf Wind Up at Hamiota Draws 80 for Dinner
The Hamiota wind up golf event on Sunday September 26 drew about 80 participants for a Smorgasbord supper. In the Men's Open Clayton Wyborn won with Jamie Jamieson second. Ladies winner Heather Houck with Mrs Allan Wiltsey second. Senior Men Lorne Richardson won with Doug Asselstine second. Juniors Ron Meakin won and Doug finished second.

Management Training aids Manitoba small business operators
Manitoba Industry and Commerce Minister Len Evans reports 127 owner-operators in nine communities have taken part in a 30 hour management course. The program trains rural business people in profitability, personnel, marketing and operations with courses for hoteliers as well. Courses continue in Min nedosa The Pas and Winnipeg with fall sessions planned in Thompson Killarney Boissevain Melita Deloraine and Flin Flon.

Pension Guarantee Rising to 244.97 Monthly in Manitoba
Manitoba pensioners including singles widowed and divorced will receive 244.97 dollars per month starting October 1 up from 241.01 previously. Health minister Laurent Desjardins announced the increase as part of the provincial pension guarantee.

Band Committee Holds First Meeting in Hamiota

Hamiota Birdtail River Festival syllabus now in schools and stores. The fall session in Strathclair runs November 3 to 5 with spoken poetry drama group reading original poetry public speaking folk and square dancing and gymnastics. Adjudicators include Linda McDowell and Jim Belford from Winnipeg.

Tribute roses planted for American Homemakers bicentennial
At the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada pre conference meeting in Charlottetown P E I a bed of Adelaide Hoodless roses was planted at the Peace Garden in tribute to American Homemakers’ Clubs on the Bicentennial. Myrtle White and Mrs Eileen Brake presided and Mrs Thomson spoke on the FWIC Peace Garden and the rose. Arlene Sagness accepted the token for North Dakota Homemakers. The Parks Board will plant the remaining eleven roses in spring. National anthems and Song of Peace closed the ceremony.
