Manitoba towns topic film on Killarney area on CTV sketch
A Manitoba documentary focusing on Killarney and surrounding area will air on CTV in the Sketches of Our Town program. Beaver Creek Productions of Unionville Ontario will produce the 24 minute film costing about 15000 dollars with cost sharing from the Chamber of Commerce Killarney Foundation Killarney Industrial Development Corporation and the RM of Turtle Mountain. The town council declined to fund the project.

Hamiota RM votes to incorporate EDC and address weed issues
The Hamiota RM Council discussed weed problem areas and reviewed a Union of Manitoba Municipalities questionnaire. Ed Brethour of the Hamiota Economic Development Committee sought incorporation to pursue funding, with estimated costs between 150 and 300. Council approved the EDC incorporation, August finance, and $35,685.14 in July accounts.

The Birdtail River School Division Board filled several staff posts at the Sept. 14 meeting. New hires include David Cook as full time teacher assistant at Birtle Collegiate and Chris Czarnecki as full time term teacher at Hamiota Collegiate. Glenda Tourand became half time teacher assistant at Miniota School. Dwayne Krashel was hired as full time accounting staff at the Division office. The Hamiota Western Boundary Delegation presented proposed bus routes with estimated costs and revenue, to be discussed next meeting. Don Dubray received permission to attend classes at Hamiota Collegiate if transportation costs are covered. C. McLeod’s resignation as Revising Officer was accepted. Neil McDonald appointed to serve until year end. Al Parnetta was hired as half time Technology Co-ordinator. Continued on page 3.
