Health Centre News Construction Planning Progress
Planning for the personal care and senior housing project moves to working drawings with construction set for fall. Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation approves 15 senior units after a need survey, which saw 60 completed forms with over half seeking immediate tenancy. A future 15 more units could be added if needed. Applications will be invited later, based on need and support needs, with equal opportunity for all citizens. Rebekah Lodge Meeting and Parades in Hamiota Fair
Rebekah Lodge in September meeting resumed after a two month break. A decorated car entered in the Hamiota Fair parade and won first in its section. Visiting officials from Manitoba and Portage met at Noble Grand Margaret Boyd’s home in August. Open house drew about forty sisters renewing acquaintances with Mary Simpson and Edna Miller. A lunch was served at Helen Johns' grandson’s funeral in August and Eva Angus’ charter was draped in memory after an accidental death. Many sisters attended the funeral. lunch followed in Chumah Hall. Donations were made to CNIB, Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Wheelchair Appeal. A supper and social is planned for November 7 in Community Hall, with details to follow.
