Officers on the run across the province
A Manitoba RCMP Run for Cancer event will see 48 officers run six routes across the province on September 27 and 28. The relay distances total about 240 kilometres with $2 tickets sold province wide to support the Canadian Cancer Society. Since 1983 the marathon has raised over a half million dollars. this year’s goal is $110,000 led by Cst. Nick Greenhill.

Oak River council reviews water metering and tree care
The Oak River UVD met on Monday Sept 9 to discuss debenture schedules from Rural Development for watermain renewals and costs of varying terms. They considered reverse osmosis benefits, metering for the Oak Dale Senior Housing grounds, street light disconnection for tree trimming, elevators and surrounding property, mowing, the work order list, garbage collection, 330 feet of sidewalk remaining, paving on Delap and Limit streets soon, and a private property cheque received for work done.

Agreement reached on water upgrade and depot purchase
The R M of Blanshard council held a Sept 6 1996 meeting approving the Manitoba Water Services Board upgrade agreement for Oak River U W D and authorizing the Reeve and Administrator to sign. The vote approved buying a 24 by 36 foot recycling depot office from Minnedosa Co op and other municipal actions were discussed including gravel screening and land purchase authorizations.
