The United Church Women of Hamiota met in Chumah Hall on September 14 with guests from Crandall Decker McConnell Oak River and Oakner. They reviewed self determination and 1968 allocations and heard from Brandon Seminar attendees Mrs J E Hudson and Mrs Ray Armstrong about aid needs in India Africa Angola refugees Zambia Japan and other nations. City Neurosurgeon Lorne Mc Connell Dies at 78 in Saskatoon
Dr Lorne McConnell a Saskatoon neurosurgeon born in Winnipeg and educated at Hamiota Manitoba served in the British Army Medical Corps in WWI and practiced in Saskatoon since 1920 He was chief of surgery at City Hospital before retirement and is survived by his wife two daughters a brother and two sisters.

The regular Hamiota Women’s Institute meeting on September 5 at 2 30 attracted good attendance with 33 members. October invites were extended. Roll Call highlighted trips. No Home Beautification Contest this year. last year’s winners Bernie Strachan retain title. Donations to Cancer Fund requested in memory of Mrs J M Williams. Library books received. thanks extended to Mrs E D Hudson. Program by Mrs T J Strachan featured Citizenship topics from Country Guide and McLean's Magazine. Mizpah Benediction closed the session.

Gospel Chapel WMS Meeting Recaps Missionary Giving
The September WMC meeting at Mrs. G. Emerson’s home included prayer, hymn, and a faith article. Members planned Christmas gifts to missionaries, collections for New Hebron Eng. High School Hong Kong, and support for French work in Quebec. They discussed sending Meyers a Christmas parcel and stocking the Hope Chest.

Birdtail River School Division No. 38 board gathered at Shoal Lake September 14 1967 with trustees Rankin Stimpson Fulton Selby Rapley Randel Clark and Superintendent Davison present. Minutes approved actions included transportation payments to parents Hoist for teachers in service and tenative Van Tender awards plus additional hut rental at Hamiota Collegiate and next meeting set for September 28 1967.

Hamitota School Band Plans Fund Drive and Concerts
The Ham iota School Band committee met at the Elementary School to raise funds for the new year. They have 500 dollars in treasury and expect at least 750 dollars for instruction. A trombone costing 70 to 80 dollars is needed and new band booklets. The Sea Cadet Band led by Mr. Ted Good will perform in January, with Ham iota Band planning a March or April concert. Additional volunteers are sought for the bass section and uniforms may receive partial funding.
