Manitoba Forms Industrial Benefits Group for Mega Projects
Premier Sterling Lyon announced the Manitoba Industrial Benefits Group to maximize local benefits from major projects including a potash mine, aluminum smelter, and western power grid with an estimated $3 billion in investment. The group will notify the public and help Manitoba suppliers participate, boosting jobs and purchasing power. The plan aims at balanced growth across sectors and opportunities for all Manitobans while inviting national involvement when local capacity falls short. Canada Alberta Energy Agreement follows, urging a broader federal provincial strategy and noting the COSP grants up to $800 to switch from oil heating to gas or other energy sources.
