Electric Heating Installations Quadruple In Manitoba Homes
Manitoba Hydro reports electric heating installations in the province more than doubling last year with 1170 homes in the latest three months compared with 550 in the prior year. Conversions rise even faster, driven by fuel price trends and the COSP subsidy, as over 600 oil heated Manitoba homes have converted to electric heat since June. The report notes over 40 percent of homes across several centres are electrically heated, totaling about 84,900 Manitoba homes and apartments with primary electric heating including 8,500 houses and 26,000 Winnipeg suites.
