Rolling River Board Discusses Taxes and Staffing Changes
The Rolling River School Division board met on September 6 1972 to review education costs and a fall levy plan. A board committee was formed to draft resolutions for the Manitoba Association of School Trustees. The panel hired Katty Lane as clerk-typist after Miss Orla Coates resigned and approved heating-oil tenders for several schools. Enrolment projections were discussed with exact figures to come later, and meetings will now be held on the first and third Thursdays.

W I Meet W I held its first Fall meet in September with Mrs. W Heapy presiding. A summer tour to Souris was enjoyed by members and families. Perpetual Care for Oak River Cemetery was prepared by Mrs. Wm Hedley. Trophies were awarded to Mrs. Jack Bowen for Best Town Grounds 1971 and to Mrs. Gordon Espey for Best Country Grounds 71, now permanent. Social hour hostesses were Mrs. Herb Skinner and Mrs. Bill Knight.

Bill Lewycky 46 a Shoal Lake businessman and farmer announces his candidacy for the Liberal nomination in Marquette. The nominating convention set for Thursday September 21 at 8 30 p m at the Minnedosa Legion Hall. He and wife Mary have lived in Shoal Lake over 23 years with two university attending sons. He chairs the local Chamber of Commerce Manitoba board and has served on Birdtail River School Division since 1967. He leads the Marionette Federal Liberal Association.
