Manitoba Public School Funding Up 4.5 Percent

Manitoba will allocate 659.8 million dollars to public schools in 1988, a 4.5 percent rise from last year. Manitoba Oil and Gas Corp to divest assets this year

Crown corporation announces divestiture steps with completion expected by year end. Chair James Oborne says over 30 information requests have been received and offers range from asset sales to full acquisition to maximize government recovery. The firm holds 10 percent in ICG Manitoba Pipeline and produces about 250 barrels daily from over 50 wells with 1.3 million barrels of proved reserves.

Senior Choir Wind-up Held at Home Plate Cafe

The Hamiota Senior Choir marked its windup on September 7 after 20 months of fun. Thirty members and friends gathered at 5:00 p.m. for supper, with thanks to Ethel Robertson for arranging the meal and Dot Pangman for corsages for Gert Rankin and Lil Peacock. Health and happiness to all.

New MCIC Board Appointed In Manitoba

Agriculture Minister Glen Findlay announces a new three year board for the Manitoba Crop Insurance Corporation. New chairman Dr. Clay Gilson, a University of Manitoba agriculture economist, previously led MCIC 1959 to 1973 and 1978 to 1982. Morcom Tops Hamiota Fall Golf Tournament

In Hamiota on September 3 and 4, seventy-five players competed with Al Morcombe winning the Championship Flight at 69. Jamie Jamieson led First Flight with 82, while Garry Kidd won First Flight and Lloyd Mansell topped Third Flight with 91. Participants thanked and invited everyone back for next year.
