Wise urged to engage Prairie farmers as new agriculture minister
Neighborly News salutes Ottawa’s new Ag Minister Eugene Whelan and urges Hon John Wise to learn from Whelan’s approach. The letter notes Whelan was vocal and accessible, often answering questions late at night, and argues Wise should read Prairie weeklies to understand farm concerns such as drought, pests, and rising chemical costs. It stresses the need for direct farmer contact at fairs and bull sales and warns of wretched farm organization communications.
