Grand Opening Carnival at Hamiota Sports Complex
The Grand Opening Carnival of the Hamiota and District Sports Complex on November 16 features celebrity figure skaters Lyndon Johnston and Lara Carscadden with local names Michael Rudd Robin Johnstone and others. Activities begin at 6:30 p.m. with speed races, novelty events, a Grand Opening cake and an exhibit tracing the complex from planning to completion.

Dales Receives Meritorious Fire Service Award
Pat Dales was honored with the Mary Beth Dolin Meritorious Fire Service Award at the 1991 Emergency Services Conference in Brandon. He led the Miniota Volunteer Fire Department from 1961 as a member to 1976 as Fire Chief, retiring in 1991 after expanding the department from 6 to 16 volunteers and adding two fire trucks and an emergency van.
