Hamiota Family Services plans annual benefit concert auction

The Child and Family Services committee in Hamiota met on October 9 to organize the annual fundraiser. A concert November 29 at Hamiota Collegiate will feature community made candy sales and a Saturday auction November 30 at Hamiota Elementary School with items from local businesses and a new Arctic Watch Terry McLean Plate raffle prize.

Drug Education Sessions Planned in Hamiota Community

From November 18 to 22 1991 the Hamiota RCMP with Brandon RCMP Drug Section and Dr John Guilfoyle will host talks on drug awareness for professionals and the public. A drug display kit will be shown. Attendance limited to 30 per session with sign up at 764-2345 on Mon Wed or Fri. Sessions include November 20 7 30 pm at Hamiota Collegiate Library and November 21 3 30 pm at the Municipal Town Office basement with another 7 30 pm session at the same library.

Former Hamiota Starlette inducted into Hall of Fame

Lynda Chorley nee Kidd, star of the Hamiota Starlettes, was inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame at an October 1991 ceremony in Winnipeg. The Brandon University graduate led Hamiota to provincial titles in 1961 and 1964, dominated rural leagues, and later coached 20 years in Souris and Brandon.
