Canada Savings Bonds offer solid savings with tax notes
Canada Savings Bonds are promoted as a patriotic and practical saving tool. The 1983-84 CSB issue runs from October 24 to November 7 with first year interest at 9.25 percent. Bonds are cashable anytime and available via payroll deduction, with denominations from 100 to 10 000 dollars. Tax rules cap tax-free interest at 1 000 dollars and limit the after tax return on large holdings, advising diversification to avoid higher taxes. Mr Mardon of Investors Group provides guidance.
