Kindergarten Report Extends Hours and Announces Bake Basket Draw

The draw occurs Saturday night December 3 at the Lions Theatre with proceeds for supplies and salaries.

Manitoba Public Health Units Rise Through Decades

The article traces Manitoba’s public health evolution from 19th century district organization to the 1945 Health Services Act. Rolino River Board awards contract for Minnedosa high school build

The Rolino River Board at Oak River awarded Peterson Construction Co. a winter contract for the Miers site and footings of a new Minnedosa high school. Tendering for remaining work, nearly 1 million dollars, will occur in spring, with concrete work totaling 11 311 dollars. Electors approved a 948 000 bylaw September 10 to fund 26 classrooms and 28 auxiliary rooms across five centres including Minnedosa and Rivers.

The McConne W I club met at Mrs J C Richardson’s home on Wednesday October 16 with 14 members and 7 visitors. Roll call featured favorite recipe. Mrs Powers and Mrs Skinner described the Fall District Board Meeting at Hamiota. Edwina Killoh and Lynne Richardson reported on the 4 H camp at Clear Lake and show items. Meeting closed with lunch by Mrs Richardson and Mrs McDougall.

Andrews Return From States After Visit

Mr and Mrs A E Andrew return home after a short visit in the United States. Mrs Andrew attends the Manitoba Hospital Convention in Winnipeg. Mrs Dave Ferris and Mrs Moore of Boissevain visit sister Mrs Alan Beasley in Kepville for several days.

Afternoon Auxiliary Thankoffering Meeting at Hamiota Church

The Hamiota United Church Afternoon Auxiliary held a Thankoffering meeting on Thursday October 20. Mrs Yeomans gave a talk on the Dominion Board and missionary work highlighting education and integration efforts. Reports included $470 raised to date and plans to raise $330 more with references to UNICEF World Refugee Year and United Nations Day events.

Provincial Telephone Directory Available This November

The new Provincial Telephone Directory will be available outside Greater Winnipeg early in November. Manitoba Telephone System reports distribution will exceed 88 000 copies, up from last year. Subscribers learn delivery method via local ads in weekly and daily papers and can use page 5 for personal listings. Remove the old directory after receiving the new one.
