Fall Use of Granular Herbicides Without Incorporation
JOHN PATTERSON notes rising surface use of granular herbicides this fall without incorporation to aid soil moisture and tillage reduction. Avadex and Fortress may be used in minimum tillage, fall or spring, with soil contact and optional harrowing when straw is heavy. Incorporation can occur before, during, or after seeding, with a high disturbance option for Avadex. Edge shows stronger weed control than Trifloralin, and fall treatments outperform spring in ongoing trials.
