Councils resist Manitoba phone rate hike opposition grows

Several area municipalities join over 30 across Manitoba in opposing MTS proposed local rate increases of 3 dollars monthly, plus 4 dollars later. Hamiota Credit Union to Open Miniota Branch

After the Royal Bank left Miniota in June, the Hamiota Credit Union won approval to open a Miniota branch. A lease-to-purchase was arranged with the Miniota Economic Development Committee, with Norm Nicol guiding plans. Hiring for two member services roles and a branch manager is under way, and renovations, phone lines, and new safes are being installed as the bank readies to serve local customers.
